My career began with a period designing and developing software for high performance, real-time, industrial control systems. I then moved on to a research / analysis role where, after initial work on a high-performance real-time simulator, I specialised in issues related to operational use and management of advanced military communications systems.

In 1991 I set up SyntheSys to provide information systems products and services to government and industry markets. The Company grew to become one of the UK’s leading independent suppliers of Tactical Data Link consultancy services and a provider of systems engineering products and services until it was sold at the end of 2024.

In early 2021, I established Idealogix (originally called SyntheSys Research) as a semi-independent research and development arm of SyntheSys, which undertook some novel projects. Since the sale of SyntheSys, Idealogix has broadened its scope of operations and is now my main business interest.
