James Rynn is a mathematician, data scientist and co-founder of Anomalyse, where he leads the development of explainable AI solutions for industrial applications. He holds a PhD in Uncertainty Quantification from the University of Manchester and has extensive experience applying machine learning to real-world manufacturing and operational challenges.

Before founding Anomalyse, James worked in industrial technology and consultancy roles, including leading a data science team and delivering complex, grant-funded innovation projects. His expertise spans anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, explainable AI, statistical modelling and the deployment of scalable cloud-based analytics platforms.

James is particularly focused on helping manufacturers turn existing machine and process data into practical insight, enabling earlier intervention, improved reliability and greater productivity. He combines strong technical knowledge with experience communicating complex analytical results to engineers, managers and non-technical stakeholders.
