Successful Digital Transformation Toolkit

The Successful Digital Transformation Toolkit provides practical guidelines to help Manufacturing SMEs build the digital transformation capabilities needed for successful industrial digital technologies (IDTs) implementation. Drawing on an extensive literature review, interviews with Made Smarter advisors, and discussions with manufacturing firms at various stages of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or its sub-systems implementation in the East Midlands (UK), this research identifies the operational and managerial capabilities required for Manufacturing SMEs and the organisational and individual factors that shape their development.

Using this toolkit, Manufacturing SMEs will be able to:

  • Follow a systematic approach for implementing ERP systems (or its sub-systems) by integrating project management, technology adoption, and organisational change activities.
  • Minimise implementation risk by identifying issues early and establishing appropriate controls, reviews, and decision points.
