Deep tech SMEs to accelerate innovation in automotive supply chains

Digital Catapult has announced that four deep tech startups are set to accelerate innovation in the automotive industry and scale their solutions through tailored growth support and access to real-world industrial insights. Joining the Automotive Cluster Accelerator, part of the Made Smarter Innovation | Digital Supply Chain Hub, each participant will receive up to £100,000 in funding to work alongside an industry partner to develop proof-of-concept and minimum viable product solutions to explore the art-of-the-possible in UK supply chain innovation.

Over 30 deep tech innovators from across the UK applied for the accelerator, with ErgodicMavarick AILogidot and Idealogix selected to develop new solutions that will be trialled in real-world industrial environments with industry leaders including Trèves and Vantec. Alongside funding, the programme will provide guidance from Digital Catapult and the opportunity to develop use cases to showcase the application of deep tech solutions to equip the UK to be future ready and improve resilience in local supply chains.

Ergodic will explore how its AI-powered software could support deeper understanding, simulation and optimisation of real-world supply chain packaging dynamics. Logidot meanwhile will build a predictive inbound planning tool for Vantec that uses advanced shipping notice data to forecast truck arrivals and unload times, creating a dynamic dock schedule to support the improvement of UK industrial supply chain resilience.

Supply chain intelligence specialist, Mavarick AI, will explore how AI can be applied to enhance the tracking and management of returnable packaging across the automotive supply chain, supporting long-term innovation and sustainability though the circular economy.  Finally, Idealogix will work with global automotive supplier Trèves to develop a platform using game engine technology to transform how the company tracks and returns reusable packaging to reduce costs and carbon emissions.

Annie Iakovaki, Head of Industrial Supply Chains at Digital Catapult, said: “By bringing together deep tech businesses and leading manufacturers, this accelerator aims to advance innovation and ensure the UK remains at the leading-edge when it comes to the automotive sector.  It also provides the cohort companies with a unique opportunity to collaborate with tier one suppliers and original equipment manufacturers who they otherwise may have struggled to engage with. We are thrilled with the interest shown and the result of the competition and look forward to working with those involved to explore how we can support the automotive sector to enable its supply chain to flourish, bringing benefits not only to them, but to UK Plc.”

The participating companies are:

Ergodic

Ergodic predicts complex disruptions before they happen and shows you exactly what to do about them. Its AI world models show how one delay, shortage, or change ripples through your entire operation. This helps you see how every part of your supply chain connects, where your next disruption will come from, and test solutions in minutes. Find out more by visiting the Ergodic website

Idealogix

Idealogix is a dynamic and forward-thinking company dedicated to harnessing the power of systems thinking and engineering to create value for its customers and the community. Find out more by visiting the Idealogix website

Logidot

Logidot was founded in 2018 and born out of a research programme at Imperial College London, to develop a system for high performance real-time location tracking of mobile assets in industrial warehouses. Logidot creates a digital twin of the warehouse, factory or yard operations by tracking mobile assets (eg vehicles, tools, stock, robots) in realtime with its uniquely high-performance, plug&play and low-cost location tracking sensors. Its Smart Warehouse platform, in turn, gives managers the ability to analyse real-time and historical material flows and optimize the efficiency, safety and sustainability of operations through predictions, locationbased process automation and alerts.
